Position Summary:

Command Cyber Solutions is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented CMDB Capacity Planning Equipment Custodian to join our IT team in support of a client at Hill AFB. As part of a critical surge initiative, this role will execute a comprehensive validation and re-baselining of the data center environment to establish a definitive source of truth for all physical, power, and space capacity. The Custodian is responsible for validating completed physical inventory findings, reconciling discrepancies against existing documentation, and ensuring the asset management system (Device43 CMDB) is 100% accurate, enabling data-driven decisions for modernization, consolidation, and future growth. This role reports to the CMDB Project Manager to support the CMDB Modernization initiative and ensures compliance with DoW asset management standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Identify and document all hardware, whether online, offline, or decommissioned, to reconcile discrepancies between physical reality and existing records.
  • Serve as a critical component for updating and validating Device42 CMDB, ensuring it becomes the authoritative source of truth for all data center assets.
  • Coordinate daily with the CMDB Project Manager to ensure inventory findings align with CMDB modernization priorities and timelines.
  • Conduct manual, rack-by-rack audits to validate and update all rack elevation diagrams in Microsoft Visio.
  • Precisely identify and document utilized vs. available Rack Units across the entire data center to create an accurate space availability baseline.
  • Update and maintain detailed floor space diagrams for all data center facilities.
  • Physically validate power consumption by gathering readouts from Power Distribution Units at the end of each row.
  • Establish a process for manually tracking power draw to inform current utilization and future capacity headroom calculations.
  • Collaborate with Civil Engineering to obtain and document specifications for cooling and power infrastructure.
  • Perform hands-on tasks including the physical installation, decommissioning, and cabling of infrastructure as required by the project.
  • Adhere strictly to all change management, safety, and operational procedures.
  • Support the decommissioning and disposal process for out of warranty and unused enterprise equipment to reclaim space and power.

Education, Certification & Experience:

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field.

Certifications:
  • Active Secret Clearance (Required).
  • CompTIA Security+ CE (preferred).

Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in a data center, IT infrastructure, or configuration management role.
  • Prior experience in DoW, DISA, or government data center environment.

Knowledge:
  • DoD asset management policies and procedures for equipment accountability and lifecycle management.
  • IT hardware components and data center operations including servers, networking gear, and peripheral devices.

Skills:
  • Inventory management and tracking proficiency using DoW systems and project management tools.
  • Documentation and reporting skills to ensure compliance with audits, inspections, and accountability standards.

Abilities:
  • Attention to detail and organizational ability to maintain accurate records and identify discrepancies.
  • Collaboration and communication ability to work effectively with technical teams, managers, and government stakeholders.
