Position Summary:
Command Cyber Solutions is seeking a motivated and hands-on Journeyman Cloud Systems Engineer to join our dynamic IT team at Hill AFB. This role is a critical technical resource focused on the automation, management, and security of our hybrid cloud environment. As a key player supporting our Operating Systems (OS) and Web Application teams, you will leverage modern DevOps practices to maintain and enhance our infrastructure. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in both Linux and Windows, with a passion for using Ansible and Git to automate everything from system deployments to security compliance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Automate the deployment, configuration, and management of systems across on-premises (VMware) and cloud (AWS, Azure) environments.
  • Serve as a primary technical resource for our cloud automation strategy, demonstrating advanced scripting and automation skills by developing, testing, and maintaining a library of Ansible playbooks and roles.
  • Utilize a strong proficiency in Git workflows (branching, merging, pull requests) to manage version control for all automation scripts, configurations, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates in a collaborative team setting.
  • Draw upon a solid background in managing both Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server to implement and troubleshoot infrastructure deployments based on IaC principles.
  • Leverage an understanding of web application hosting (Tomcat, IIS) and network fundamentals to support CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment of infrastructure and application updates.
  • Act as a Tier 3 escalation point, using excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to the OS, cloud services, and web applications.
  • Implement and automate security controls, applying knowledge of DISA STIG and NIST standards to ensure all systems remain compliant. Use Ansible to automate patch management, vulnerability scanning, and compliance auditing.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced, DevOps-oriented culture, collaborating with development and security teams to ensure new systems are deployed securely and efficiently while maintaining clear documentation in the Git repository.

Education, Certification & Experience:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Certifications:
  • Active Secret Clearance required.
  • CompTIA Security+
     
Experience:
  • Advanced knowledge of RedHat and Windows operating systems, including configuration, security, and performance tuning, with strong PowerShell and Ansible proficiency for automation and administration. Hands-on experience with automation tools like Ansible & Git.
  • Prior experience in DoD or government data center environments strongly preferred.
     
Knowledge:
  • Operating systems expertise: Advanced knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server, including configuration, security hardening, and performance tuning.
    Web application architectures.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise-class web services (WebLogic, Tomcat, IIS, SharePoint, Power BI) and their integration with OS platforms
    Cloud and virtualization technologies.
  • Knowledge of AWS, Azure, VMware, Docker, and Kubernetes, including cloud migration strategies and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools.

Skills:
  • Automation and scripting proficiency: Strong skills in PowerShell, Ansible, Python, and SolarWinds Query Language for system administration and orchestration.
  • Systems engineering and architecture design: Skilled in designing, deploying, and managing large-scale, enterprise-class systems with high availability and scalability.

Abilities:
  • Problem-solving and analytical ability: Exceptional capacity to evaluate technical challenges, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
