Position Summary:
Command Cyber Solutions (CCS) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Systems Administrator to join our Information Technology (IT) team in support of critical Department of War (DoW) mission operations at Hill Air Force Base (AFB). This role is integral to sustaining and advancing the customer’s hybrid cloud infrastructure across on-premises, Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP)-authorized commercial cloud platforms (Google Cloud, Azure, AWS, Oracle Cloud), and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) compliant environments. As a Senior Cloud Systems Administrator, you will take ownership of system administration, performance optimization, security hardening, and infrastructure modernization initiatives that directly support national defense capabilities. Using industry-standard tools such as PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, and SolarWinds, you will ensure enterprise-class systems remain scalable, secure, compliant with DoW security standards National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG), and operationally resilient. This is an opportunity to apply your technical expertise in a mission-critical environment where your work has meaningful impact.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Administer, optimize, and harden multi-cloud infrastructure across Google Cloud, Azure, AWS, and Oracle Cloud environments; ensure FedRAMP-authorized platforms maintain required security posture, scalability, and high availability in accordance with DoD standards.
- Sustain and support mission-critical customer applications and infrastructure in hybrid cloud and on-premises environments; serve as primary escalation point for application performance and system availability issues.
- Monitor cloud, application, and infrastructure performance and health using SolarWinds, Google Cloud Monitoring, Azure Monitor, and Jira; identify optimization opportunities and security vulnerabilities; generate reports for leadership and stakeholders.
- Provide advanced (Tier 2-3) technical support and troubleshooting for cloud platform issues, application incidents, and infrastructure problems; use PowerShell, Ansible, and SolarWinds for root cause analysis and rapid remediation; document lessons learned and improve runbooks.
- Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, Ansible, and PowerShell to automate cloud deployments, application configurations, and remediation workflows; ensure all infrastructure adheres to NIST 800-53 and DISA STIG requirements.
- Develop and execute security patch management programs across hybrid infrastructure; validate NIST/STIG compliance using automated scanning tools; conduct security assessments and coordinate remediation of findings; maintain audit logs and compliance documentation.
- Lead and execute complex cloud migration initiatives including application re-hosting, refactoring, and optimization; plan capacity, manage resource allocation, and validate security controls post-migration using Terraform, PowerShell, and cloud-native migration tools.
- Design and manage containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) and serverless architectures; implement pod security policies and network segmentation; optimize container performance and costs; troubleshoot container orchestration and runtime issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Security, Infrastructure) to design, test, and deploy cloud-native solutions; follow strict change management procedures; participate in incident response and post-incident reviews; communicate technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including runbooks, architecture diagrams, disaster recovery procedures, and security baselines; ensure all documentation meets audit and compliance requirements; establish knowledge base for incident response and operational continuity.
- Mentor and develop junior technical staff on cloud administration, Infrastructure as Code, security best practices, and DoD compliance; provide hands-on training and code reviews; foster knowledge sharing within the cleared program environment.
- Execute change management procedures for all infrastructure and application modifications; complete Change Advisory Board (CAB) reviews; perform pre/post-implementation validation; maintain detailed change logs and rollback plans compliant with government standards.
- Support compliance and security assessments including DISA/NIST audits, FedRAMP continuous monitoring, and DoD cybersecurity evaluations; track compliance remediation activities; maintain audit evidence and documentation; communicate compliance status to leadership and government stakeholders.
